ID Verification for Directors & PSCs – Companies House Deadline
Overview
From 18 November 2025, the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 introduces mandatory identity verification for all directors and all persons with significant control (PSCs). Verification ensures that every person on the register is a real, verified individual.
Directors – what you must do
-
Verify your identity via the official service:
GOV.UK – Verify your identity for Companies House -
Once verified you’ll receive a personal code (unique to you).
-
Provide this code with your company’s next Confirmation Statement filed after 18 November 2025 or upon appointment/incorporation if later.
-
If we handle your filings, enter your director code in your dashboard under Settings. We cannot file without it.
Note: Our software only requires director personal codes for filings. If you are also a PSC but not a director, we do not need your PSC personal code for our filings.
PSCs – separate but equally important
-
PSCs must also verify their identity and receive a personal code.
-
If you are both a director and a PSC: you will use the same personal code for both roles—one for the director filing and the separate PSC submission.
-
If you are a PSC but not a director: your code must be provided within the first 14 days of your birth month (post 18 Nov 2025) or within 14 days of becoming a PSC.
Why this matters
-
Verified identity helps prevent fraud and improves the integrity of the companies register.
-
If a director is unverified, companies may be unable to file and could face regulatory consequences.
-
Acting as a director without verification may constitute an offence.
